Request certificates from the Municipality of Milan
In Milan the digital channel for civil-status extracts depends on the date of the event: the Comune uses its own platform for events before 1 January 2026 and ANPR for later ones. ItaloDocs can handle the request if you lack SPID or the document is not available on those channels.

How do you request a certificate from the Municipality of Milano?
Milan's official support (updated in 2026) states: extracts and full civil-status acts for events that occurred or were transcribed in Milan are requested online with SPID/CIE; if the act is before 1 January 2026, on the Comune's dedicated platform; if later, on ANPR. Alternatively: an appointment at any registry office, also with SPID/CIE. Multilingual forms, according to the service page, are issued only at a counter appointment. Registry certificates for yourself or your household mainly go through ANPR; for third parties or certain types (use abroad, multilingual, death registry certificates, etc.) the Comune requires an appointment.
Can it be requested online?
Yes, with a Milan-specific date split. A 1990 birth and a 2026 birth do not follow the same flow. Without SPID/CIE the Comune points to the Contact Center. AIRE: the Comune's help pages send birth-certificate requests to ANPR, not through the same local-extract circuit.
What if you live outside Italy?
From abroad the usual blocker is SPID/CIE and, if the document belongs to an ancestor or a third party, standing rules (the Comune sets limits on full birth copies and family trees). Multilingual extracts require the counter. ItaloDocs files the request in Milan when a power of attorney is needed or the online channel does not apply.
