Does ANPR replace Rome's portal?

Not entirely. Rome documents both channels. ANPR is the national portal; Roma Capitale keeps its own online service and its own rules (household, non-residents, extracts).

How do you request a certificate from the Municipality of Roma?

According to Roma Capitale's official service sheets, registry and civil-status certificates can be requested: (1) online on Rome's portal, with SPID, CIE or CNS, if you live in Rome or are registered with Rome AIRE, and only for yourself or a member of your registered household; (2) at Municipio counters when the document is not online or the request is for third parties or professional firms; (3) by PEC to certificati.anagrafe@pec.comune.roma.it if you do not reside in Roma Capitale, with the details the Comune lists on its page. Can it be requested online?

Yes, with limits. Roma Capitale's portal issues registry and civil-status certificates as digitally stamped PDFs for Rome residents and Rome AIRE registrations, after digital ID. Rome states that third-party certificates outside the registered household cannot be requested on that portal. Extracts and full copies that are not online are requested at the counter or by PEC. ANPR covers certificates and, from 2026, some digital extracts if the act is in the national archive (ANSC).

What if you live outside Italy?

If you do not live in Rome, the Comune points to the PEC of the correspondence certifications office and, on its procedures sheet, different guide times depending on whether the data is digitised or must be searched in the archive (including historical research). From abroad you often lack SPID/CIE, or you need a relative's record, a full copy or a historical document: the resident online channel is then not enough. ItaloDocs files the request with a power of attorney when the procedure allows it.
