How sworn translation works
A sworn translation presents the content of the birth document in the language of the procedure, with the formality used in Italy (traduzione asseverata). It does not guarantee that the receiving body will accept the file, and it does not replace obtaining the original record.

Apostille and legalization
Apostille or legalization and sworn translation are separate steps. Depending on the country of issue, the destination, the receiving body and the procedure, the document may need an apostille, legalization, both or neither.
We do not claim that a birth certificate must always be apostilled, or that apostille must always come before translation. Confirm the sequence with whoever will receive the file.
If you still need the Italian certificate
This page is for people who already have a birth document and need a sworn translation. Obtaining a certificate or record issued by an Italian Comune is a different documentary service.
